FOUNDATION waterProofing

When completing either interior or exterior basement waterproofing services sump pump systems are always recommended. Sump pump systems are either gravity fed or fed to a dry well, depending on the original ground elevations.

What your expected to see in the completion of waterproofing your basement is the removal and dismantlement of objects/obstacles in the 15 foot range of your perimeter of your house. Therefor would be the exterior approach of waterproofing your basement which is always recommended first. The interior approach often more expensive for finished residential basement waterproofing, but works well for unfinished and commercial foundations. This solution we would have to remove the walls and flooring within 4 ft of perimeter of interior.

Once the completion of waterproofing we are faced with either reusing the old material if salvageable, or build new.

reuse material

Often most material is able to be reused such as most lumber for surrounding decks, entrances steps, wooden timber and fencing. lumber is easily dismantled and used with little or no new material needed. Interlocking stone and other types of stone work also falls in the same category. Once broken down to unit size it is easily re stacked, cleaned and put back down. Flower beds and shrubbery also can be carefully packaged up and either transplanted in same or new location.

The reuse of native soil of your foundation has it pros and cons. When reusing native soil it tends to sink over time and more material has to be added to return it to its correct slope. Soil cannot be properly compacted in lifts like granular material. Although removing native material and bringing in new granular (sand) is an option. It is going to be a large additional expense, but if new landscaping is going to be done immediately after the waterproofing is done it is highly recommend. Using native soil eventually settles with time, gravity and water.
